About the Habit Pop-Up

The Habit Pop-Up Workshop is a hands-on, conversation-based experience that helps teens understand how habits form—and how they can reshape daily routines in small, practical ways. It’s not a lecture, not an app, and definitely not about fixing what's "wrong." It's about building what's already strong—with tools they can actually use.

This approach is grounded in evidence-based behavioural science. It draws on the Habit Loop Theory by Charles Duhigg, which explains how habits form through a cycle of cue, routine, and reward. It also aligns with James Clear’s Atomic Habits framework, which emphasizes the power of tiny, consistent actions, environment design, and identity-based change. From Stanford University, BJ Fogg’s Behavior Model shows that behaviour change is most successful when motivation, ability, and a clear trigger align—making small changes the most sustainable. Neuroscience research confirms that habits are wired into the basal ganglia, and that repetition paired with emotional reward helps solidify them over time (Wood & Rünger, 2016). Importantly, developmental studies show that teens respond best to environments that support peer interaction and personal autonomy (Steinberg, 2014), which is exactly the kind of space this workshop is designed to create.
