I'm more than just a Warthog

Tanya Eklund was raised in small town Alberta, part of a close-knit family. Her parents always taught her to treat others with kindness no matter what.

As a young girl, Tanya faced intense bullying over what she looked like, which cause a great deal of pain. Her parents and ongoing personal work helped her to overcome this challenge.

One of her most precious memories is of the stories her father would make-up. Each night when she went to bed, he would tell her stories about jungle animals like the ones in this book.

Now the mother of two young girls, she tells these same stories to them, who love them as much as she did. The story about Wanda the Warthog has always been a favourite of hers and her daughters. Realizing many young girls face bullying because of their looks, Tanya wanted to use this story as a lesson for her daughters by capturing and preserving it in a book. She also wanted to honour her father, Dale Eklund, for his role in her life.

Tanya Eklund now lives in Calgary, Alberta, with her husband and two daughters. She is the founder of a successful real estate firm and is one of Calgary’s top realtors.
